Analyzing the Needs for an English for Specific Purpose Course for the Radio Broadcasters

The current study's goal is to determine whether Pakistani radio broadcasters need to take an English for Special Purposes course. Radio broadcasters from five cities in Pakistan were chosen as the study's population, and information was collected from 50 of them. SPSS 20.0 was used to analyze the data which was elicited with the use of a questionnaire. According to the results of the current study there is a need of designing and teaching an English for specific purpose course to radio broadcasters of Pakistan. The data shows that the most crucial element of a radio program is excellent communication. As per the results of the data elicited from questionnaire, the ESP course should include exercises on three English language skills excluding reading skill. Likewise, most of the respondents were in favour of if the radio broadcasters are well equipped with an excellent proficiency of English for specific purpose for radio broadcasters, they have better prospects of progress in the field of radio broadcasting. Most of the respondents also favoured that the administration should also support the use of English for specific purpose at the workplace and arrange trainings on improving pronunciation of English words relevant to radio broadcasting. Grammar and lack of fluency were seen as the biggest problems of radio broadcasters in Pakistan.
